Job Description: Financial Controller (Hands-On)
Location: South Birmingham
Salary: Circa £100k per annum, no car but international flights paid for by the company
Job Summary:
Directs the financial affairs of the organisation and prepares financial analyses of operations, including interim and final financial statements with supporting schedules, for the guidance of management. The Controller is responsible for the company’s financial plans and policies, its accounting practices, the conduct of its relationships with banks, the maintenance of its fiscal records, and the preparation of financial reports. The position involves supervision over general accounting, asset accounting, internal auditing, cost accounting, and budgetary controls.

The financial controller will ensure the year-end, quarterly and monthly closings are prepared in line with company expectations and legal requirement
He/she will ensure income tax and VAT returns are filed timely and accurately and complying with UK legal requirements;
He/she will assure that internal financial reports provide accurate and appropriate information to operation staff to ensure correct and appropriate decision making takes place;
Responsible for forecasting and budgeting;
Responsible for all bank issues (mainly bank relationship, cash flow management, payments, etc.);
Credit collection and follow up with suppliers;
In charge of accounts payable & accounts receivable
The Financial Controller has the final responsibility for providing effective financial controls for the organisation.
Responsible for evaluating the performance of personnel in the Accounting Department. This individual recommends training requirements, has the duty to keep the staff at the highest level of skill necessary to meet company needs and objectives, and may recommend that personnel be hired or removed from the Department.
Responsible to keep and maintain accurately labour and social documentation staff (employee book, payroll drawing up, etc.) complying with local legislation.
He/she will act in the name and in behalf of the Company according to the powers granted and listed on special proxies.
Maintains the company’s accounts and keeps books and records on all company transactions and assets
Requirements
Degree in finance plus several years’ experience with UK accounting
Team player and entrepreneurial
Analytical and planning skills
