Spot grid trading is a quantitative trading strategy where a bot places buy and sell orders at predefined price levels (forming a grid). The bot profits from price fluctuations within a set range by repeatedly buying low and selling high. Unlike futures trading, spot grid trading involves direct asset ownership without leverage.
How Grid Trading Works:
A trader sets an upper and lower price limit for an asset (e.g., ADAUSDT).
The bot divides this range into several “grids” and places buy and sell orders at each level.
When the market price hits a buy level, the bot purchases the asset. When it reaches a sell level, the bot sells it for a profit.
This process repeats automatically, generating multiple small profits.
The first step in using a spot grid trading bot is to configure the trading parameters, including:
Price Range: Define the upper and lower price limits within which the bot will trade.
Number of Grids: Specify how many intervals to divide the price range into.
Investment Amount: Set the total capital allocated for the strategy.
Grid Type: Choose between arithmetic (equal spacing) or geometric (percentage-based spacing) grids.
Example:
Price Range: $20,000 to $22,000
Grids: 5
Grid Size: $400 per grid
The bot will place buy and sell orders at $20,000, $20,400, $20,800, $21,200, and $21,600.
The bot automatically places buy orders at lower grid levels and sell orders at upper grid levels.
When a buy order executes, a new sell order is placed above it.
When a sell order executes, a new buy order is placed below it.
The bot repeats this process as long as the market price fluctuates within the defined range.
Each completed buy-sell pair generates a small profit.
The strategy is most effective in sideways (ranging) markets with frequent price oscillations.
