If you are looking for a beautiful little shiny campervan which is super economical and is not as challenging to drive as big campervans then this little camper may be just the ticket! She’s absolutely super for a lazy afternoon in the country reading a book and sipping a cuppa, but is also fully equipped for a more adventurous European road trip!
The guys who designed these little vans really knew how to pack quite a lot into a small space, every square inch has been cleverly thought about to maximise comfort and practicality, yes some would say they are not the most attractive vehicles on the road, closely resembling an ice cream van, but once you get over this and realise that she has everything needed to get by, then she will take you places you never imagined, even if it’s privately munching on a custard tart in Morrison’s car park reading a trashy mag!
You enter her from the back through the stable style door, then you are in the business end, this is where you can cook, wash, prepare food etc. On the right as you step in there is the double hob and good size grill. Underneath is a three way Electrolux fridge and as well as running on the onsite electricity it also runs off the gas, great for off-grid camping. There is also a feature which allows you to run the fridge whilst driving using the electricity generated from the engine, this means that when you arrive at your camping destination your wine will be nice and chilled!
Turn around and you have a sink with a small tap coinnected to a powerful pump that is connected to the onboard water supply- which can hold up to 72 litres of fresh water. Above the sink, behind the mirror is a very clever little wardrobe, which is a sealed unit so your clothes will keep nice and tidy and will not smell of cooking etc.
Below the sink is a small pull cupboard with the gas isolation switches and a drawer for your cutlery. Underneath the sink is a good size storage cupboard, this can easily be converted to discretely house a porta-potti which you can just slide out when the need arises. The porta-potti that we have got is a slightly larger version which just sits in the middle of the seats, this little addition is a real game changer and means you don’t need to divert your journey for calls of nature, you can just go where you want!!
Above you in the business end is a roof vent and light, the rear door is split, like a stable door, which is great when cooking as it lets the outside in whilst keeping some privacy.
Then you step up into the sitting area which has two very comfy side sofas which measure almost 6 foot each! So there is ample room for 4 adults to sit comfortably, the side windows are huge and each one opens up 90 degrees, so when you are sitting inside with the windows open letting loads of light in, she feels anything but small or pokey.
The van has the addition of LED lighting, which is essential if you are planning a few days off-grid camping, There are two LED small reading lights and there is also two long strip LED lights which light up the entire pod, they are also colour changing and even have a disco mode, great fun for kids!
She is not just for sunny summer days out, why stop the fun there??!! All the windows in the living pod are double glazed so you can have all year round adventures.
There is plenty of storage, with each of the four seats having space underneath, there is also loads of space above the cab, ideal for things like camping chairs, parasols etc, it is also ideal for a small child’s den or perfect for a doggy den!
The bed is very easy to make, you simply place three wooden supports across the gap between the sofas, then slide the sofa bases across, hey presto! It is such a lovely feeling, when you’ve found a good camping spot and you’re tucked up, curtains drawn, radio on softly, sipping a bed time drink whilst reading a good book, ah, the simple pleasures in life!
Another great feature is that in the morning you just need to sit at the end of the bed to make breakfast as everything is in easy reach, just the job for breakfast in bed!! Because you can open the top of the rear door whilst having the bottom closed you can look out onto the countryside whilst still in bed eating breakfast!! Then if you are feeling especially lazy you can drive off without putting away the bed.
She has a 11 months MOT with no advisories and she has had all the important stuff done within the last 500 miles; a full engine service including the essential changing of the timing belt, new clutch, new gearbox bearings, new brake master cylinder with all the paperwork to warrant this. She has only covered 92k miles, these engines are said to be bulletproof workhorses which can cover over 200k miles, her paintwork is rust free and super shiny then she looks years younger than she is, and also the number plate has “57” in it and she can easily pass as a 2007 model (without the £25k price tag!) I will be taking her on a “viewing” tour this weekend so the miles will go up, depending on who takes her!
The driving position is similar to a car, she is 5 speed and the cab area is clean, there is an overhead LED light which is operated from a button on the keyring, this has two settings, a chill mode and a doing mode!
So she now requires a new home, she won’t take up much room on a driveway, she won’t upset the neighbours like other “carbuncle” vans would and won’t let you down, she is the perfect vehicle to escape the monotony of normal life. She is easy to drive and very economical so there is no excuse not to discover what is out there, just grab some bedding and hit the road! There is a camping table, windbreak, porter potty with chemicals, cutlery, solar shower. I will include the awning if I get the asking price.
