As our Finance Analyst you will be responsible for the monthly accounting and reporting for various aspects of the Vitality Health group of companies, focusing on Vitality Health Limited, to support the monthly internal and regulatory reporting, all within a robust control environment, working effectively to tight reporting deadlines.

 Responsibilities as our Finance Analyst include:

– Monthly accounting and reconciliations for the underwriting system, which includes written premium, commission, claims and aged debt, investigating and resolving variances

– Work closely with the Actuarial team in reviewing/reconciling gross earned premiums and claims between the underwriting system and Actuarial data on a monthly basis

– Review of certain monthly bank reconciliations prepared by Treasury, feeding back queries, proactively propose process improvements

– Monthly accounting for the VHL non-medex reinsurance book which includes the calculation and processing of monthly journals, reconciliations, notifications to reinsurers and maintenance of the non-medex database, working with other teams within the business

– Calculation of monthly journals for DAC

– Performance and ownership of monthly balance sheet reconciliations for Vitality UK companies, working with individuals within FR and other areas of Finance, ensuring completeness and accuracy and timely completion within tight reporting deadlines

– Monthly monitoring of certain balance sheet and income statement balances, preparing analysis and investigating and resolving queries

– Processing various monthly journals in Sage, running transaction listings, TBs etc

Skills required of our Finance Analyst:

Essential Skills

– Some formal accounting training, or qualified by experience

– Attention to detail

– Able to problem solve independently

– Proven experience in resolving issues/queries

– Experience in performing reconciliations

– Experience with Sage

– Good Excel skills

– Excellent communication skills

– Ability to work within tight monthly reporting deadlines, at times under pressure

– Proven experience in multi-tasking

Desirable Skills

– Previous experience working in an insurance environment

– Knowledge of insurance accounting standards
