I stared off as a security dog handler just over 8 years ago, the story to what has made me into a very successful dog trainer is the story I’m about to tell you now.
My mother and father had a yard for work which got broken into, almost broke the business. To prevent this from happening again my mother called a few dog rescue places, to see if they had any dogs that are to troubled to be rehoused, that would fit the job for guarding. The rescue centre had just the ticket a huge Rottweiler called Eddie! Eddie was exactly what it said on the tin but not good when you have to try and feed him and care for him he was OUT OF CONTROL! I grew to love Eddie he became my main priority BUT My dad soon got fed up and gave him back to the rescue without telling me, I was heart broken. I tracked him down and I asked the rescue what can I do to have him back? I felt he would be destroyed! She advised me to pay for his upkeep and I complete my security licence to become a security dog handler… so I did just that NOW… when I say Eddie was out of control He really was to a point I though he is so bad he couldnt be a security dog! I tried everything for him. We went to a Rottweiler school where basically it was a group of badly trained Rottweilers made him worse, I tried clicker trainning which failed I also found one of the best trainers in the county and I must say she was vile talk down to me and didn’t actually teach me anything the reason I tried all these things is beacuse I was booked on a security dog handler course with my new job and was extremely embarrassed to take Eddie on the course! We came this far so me and Eddie went to the course only 4 days a lot of the trainning was actually for me he use a few different tool and techniques THE OUTCOME!?… Man was an ex police dog handler had transform Eddie into a FINE well trained obedient security dog! what he done to Eddie was astonishing and actually quite simple no bribing with treats! Eddie would look at me at all times to see what does he the boss want me to do next!? I though to myself I wonder if can replicate this on other dogs?! And I’ve done just that to many K9s over the past 8 years I’ve recently relocated to Leicester so I’m here to help and with confidence and fun!
